Air Conditioning Unit

Why do you need an Air Con Inspection?

  • First off, inspections are legislative, you wont be able to sell or let your property without having an inspection completed.

  • Air Con inspections are designed to improve efficiency and reduce the electricity consumption, operating costs and the carbon emissions for your system.

  • Highlighting any improvements to current operation or opportunities to replace older, less efficient systems with a modern high efficiency equivalent.

Who will undertake the inspections?

  • Commercial air conditioning inspections are carried out by Building Services Engineers approved Air Conditioning Inspectors, accredited by CIBSE or STROMA

When are the deadlines?

  • By January 2009 all air conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 250kW must have had their first inspection.

  • By January 2011 all air con systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kW must have had their first inspection.

  • Air conditioning systems put into service on or after 1 January 2008 must have their first inspection within 5 years of the date it was commissioned. These air conditioning systems should then continue to be regularly inspected at intervals not exceeding five years.

  • Failure to comply would result in fines.
